BACKGROUND OF SEAD
The Special Ed Academy of Deal is a special education program available to children of our community who have learning disabilities, developmental delays, Down Syndrome and other neurological challenges.
Since its founding year, this unique program has allowed neurologically impaired children the opportunity to attend a nurturing community school with the advantage of having their special educational and therapeutic needs (OT, PT, Speech, Behavioral, etc.) met in a mainstream environment, which is a very unique combination.
S.E.A.D. offers every child the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential scholastically, socially and emotionally in a caring and supportive environment, regardless of the physical and emotional barriers, which they face.
FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Special education costs are very high and could well exceed $30,000 per child annually, depending on individual needs.
Every teacher is trained and certified in Special Education and dedicated to their field. Classroom instruction is augmented by specialists of various disciplines: physical, occupational and speech therapy, behavior modification social work, socialization and recreation.
Parents of a child with special needs are faced with a huge financial burden. The S.E.A.D. program provides these children an education in a Yeshiva environment that will support our traditions as well as provide the necessary therapies.
To guarantee each child the personal attention and supervision they deserve, we place great emphasis on a low teacher to pupil ratio. There is a maximum of 8 students per classroom staffed with one teacher and a teacher's aide (possibly a second aide depending on the needs of the children).
SUCCESS OF THE PROGRAM
The rate of enrollment acceptance will be predicated on the financial resources available to us at that time and, more importantly, in the future.
Due to the financial situation of most families on our community, scholarships are often necessary to assist with the financial burden they face
S.E.A.D. is a non-profit program, which is funded, in large part through donations. Sponsors are vital to our success. We invite you to supports and encourage you to reach out and give these children a chance to have the kind of life we take for granted.
